You will look back in time and hear about the gold rush that brought new jobs, influx of entrepreneurs, companies, and great people to South Florida. It will be compared to the Gold Rush out west & the tech boom of the last decade that drove growth for California & Seattle. Now political risk combined with the pandemic is driving the Florida Gold Rush of 2021 at the expense of New York and other states where the vote is clear by the influx of people that they vote Florida Winter 2021 and hopefully beyond.

Thousands of beautiful waterfront homes line South Florida

The kind of media Keith Rabois should be promoting South Florida with because even a cloudy day in Florida beats a great day somewhere else.

When times get tough those that survive & thrive in adversity come up with new marketing ideas and structures that fit the current and future environment. In person painting classes started at home painting kits to drive new revenue or the cycle bar that marketed to all of the new Peloton owners to get them into the gym once they re-opened.

Well Florida is the innovator in the face of other states adversity. Thriving with innovative ideas and promotions. It’s an easy sell when you have Sunshine, open restaurants, beautiful scenery, and the freedom to choose if you want to stay home or go out.

The Mayor of Miami said that a major globally known tech firm will be relocating to Florida with an announcement soon (He also wants to help relocate Silicon Valley to Miami), investment banks and hedge fund managers are fleeing higher taxes and closed down cities for South Florida and they came for the best winter we’ve ever had in my 18 years of living here.

On top of the great weather is the “influx of great people”. As an artist friend of mine from NYC who has recently relocated down here said “The worst part of South Florida was the people but now it’s changing thanks to covid.” From Keith Rabois showcasing on twitter why San Francisco is not the SF you wanna be living in. He’s one of the biggest fanboy we’ve ever had in Florida outside of Wayne Huizenga but he should also be promoting the beauty of our waterways and the activities indoors and outdoors we have are wide open.

Florida lets Dogs join the dinner crowd (my dog went viral recently as others are just now let into restaurants again)

This winter I’ve connected with biotech engineers from Harvard, Stanford, Penn, and those who work for the biggest name hedge funds in the world. Some of them are driving up the seasonal rental market while they look to buy homes in the area. Some are renting houses on the water for more than $60,000 a month and even shared a story of another very wealthy family renting a $12,000,000 home fully furnished for $200,000 a month for 6 months in Miami Beach.

All of this creating more jobs and opportunities down here that kept Miami out of a real startup and finance seen outside of Wealth Management & International Finance for Latin America. Oh and yes there are great parties happening and it’s all filled with people from up north fleeing to a place where they can have “their freedom.”
