ChatGPT is all the rage this month and thus I asked it to write an article for Medium.com on why art collecting for millenials is so difficult. Here is what the AI wrote in it’s first attempt:

“Collecting art can be a fulfilling and enriching hobby, but for many millennials, it can also be a daunting and difficult pursuit. There are a few key reasons why this is the case.

First and foremost, art can be incredibly expensive. Many young people are struggling with high levels of student debt and low wages, making it difficult for them to save up the money necessary to purchase even a modest piece of art. This can be especially true for those who are just starting out in their careers and may not have the disposable income to invest in a collection.

Additionally, the art world can be intimidating and exclusive. It can be difficult for inexperienced collectors to navigate the complex network of galleries, auction houses, and dealers, and to know how to spot a good investment. There is also a perception that the art world is elitist and that only those with extensive knowledge and connections can succeed as collectors.

Furthermore, the art market is highly volatile and unpredictable. Prices for individual works can fluctuate wildly, making it difficult for collectors to know when to buy and sell. This can be especially challenging for millennials who may not have a lot of experience with investing and may be more risk-averse.

Despite these challenges, however, many millennials are finding ways to collect art. Some are turning to alternative platforms, such as online marketplaces, to find more affordable works. Others are joining collecting clubs or organizations, where they can learn from more experienced collectors and gain access to a wider range of art.

Ultimately, collecting art can be difficult for millennials, but it is also an incredibly rewarding pursuit. By overcoming the challenges and obstacles, young collectors can build a collection that brings them joy and enrichment, and helps them connect with the world of art in a meaningful way.”

So How Did it do?

Comparing this writing to the thousands of article requests that I receive each year I would say its a better writer than the majority. If I was a content writing service for sale right now I’d be worried about diligence from a perspective buyer as this is a serious risk for the lower tier writing.
